Church of the Madonna del CarmineAlong via del Carmine you reach the church with the same name, a work of art by Filippo Juvarra (1732-1736) with the façade realized by Carlo Patarelli in 1871. Church of the Madonna del Carmine Widely restored after the damage suffered in World War II, the church has a longitudinal plan, with a single nave; by the sides there are six chapels surmounted by elliptical lunetted little domes which are linked to the nave though wide arcades characterized in the middle by the presence of a hanging arch, originally surmounted by wooden sculptures made by Stefano Maria Clemente, now substituted by plaster copies representing the Apostles. The little domes which cover the side chapels allow the light to filter through the external windows, striking the church, and enlightening the nave, according to a shrewdness which strongly characterizes the architectonical works of art of Juvarra. The apse, by Claudio Francesco Beaumont (1755-1760), portrays the Madonna del Carmine and the blessed Amedeo di Savoia. Information:
