Church of San DomenicoAt the corner of via Milano and via San Domenico you can see the church with the same name, the only Gothic building in the city. Erected in the 14th century, it was practically rebuilt in 1776; at the beginning of 1900 stylistic restorations were made, especially in the terracotta tiles façade. Church of San Domenico The interior is in a basilical plan, with a nave and two side aisles with ogival cross vaults; at the bottom of the right side aisle there is the Cappella del Rosario, realized in the second half of the 18th century on the project by Luigi Michele Barberis. On the left side of the high altar there is the Cappella della Madonna delle Grazie (half of the 14th century, strongly restored at the beginning of the century by Giovanna Vacchetta), were there are stored precious frescoes ascribed to the so-called Maestro di San Domenico. The present medieval aspect of the church is due to a radical intervention of an integrative stylistic restoration made between 1906 and 1909 under the direction of Riccardo Brayda and Alfredo d'Andrade, synthesizing and proposing again the characters of the Piedmontese structural and decorative repertoire of the 14th century.
