Inaugurated on November 11th, 2004 in the former industrial area of the Michelin, Fiat Fonderie-Teksid and Officine Savigliano (the so-called Spina 3), it is in corso Umbria 84, along the river Dora, inside the Environmental Park, a scientific and technological park which hosts the offices of several little businesses in the fields of high-tech and environment, placed in buildings which respect the criteria of the bio-architecture.

The "A come Ambiente" museum is an interactive and multimedia museum which is particularly directed to schools and families, but that succeeds in involving and audience in every stage of life. Dedicated to the environmental education, the museum is divided into three sections, each of them dedicated to a specific issue: energy/transports, waste and water.

A "shell", external structure of the main building, hosts temporary exhibitions. The tour to every section, guided by organisers, consists in film shows, games, laboratories, fittings and especially exhibits, that is "machines" realized in order to allow the audience to interact and experiment with them.

The route starts from what the audience meets everyday in its living in the city and it involves the visitor with shows, atmospheres and games that create an informative environment in order to develop a new environmental culture.

A museum's task is to inform young and adult visitors and to help them thinking with their heads. Every route starts from everyday life, with an eye on memory and on the past, and it arrives to contemporary technologies; it shows what and how many possibilities there are to avoid pollution and problems, it stimulates new individual and collective behaviours.

The issue also occupies, in a transversal and interdisciplinary way, a part of the syllabuses, and for this the museum offers an explorative route to classes of every stage, the environment issue helps thinking in terms of association and interlacement; the use of up-to-date computer languages next to structures of mechanical movement, allow to offer at every stage different level of deepening.

The museum was born from the development and the renewing of permanent exhibitions that in the last few years gained a great success in audience the multimedia and interactive museum "R come...conoscere e giocare con i rifiuti" (W for...know and play with the waste), the exhibit "H2O conoscere e giocare con l'acqua" (H2O know and play with water), the contemporary art exhibit "Ecofficina" and the exhibit "Bio.net conoscere e giocare con il genoma" (Bio.net know and play with genome).

The communication philosophy ? know and play ? places the "A come Ambiente" Museum nest to the most interesting international experience of Children Museum and Science Center, based on the active involvement of the audience.
