Turin is a city that keeps the road system inherited by ancient Romans, that was extended and modernized again by the Savoy royal family. It is formed of avenues and streets geometrically arranged, in order to help motorists and inexperienced visitors to orienting through the streets of the city.

Maps

An advise that we can give to tourists and visitors is to buy, before leaving, a city map to better move through the various interesting spots, and we want to suggest you some useful "tools" to take with you in your luggage:
a Turin Street Map, edited by Touring Club Italiano and available from $14.23; or a Town Plan Torino, edited by Touring Club Italiano and available from $14.23, and a Turin (Eyewitness Travel Guides) that contains information on museums, churches and fairs (edited by DK Publishing; price $15.75).

For further information on where are localized hotels, museums, nightspots, etc. you can click to the "maps" link on this website.

The most efficient way to visit the city is getting around by public transport (buses or trams), especially in the city centre, because moving by car becomes really difficult both for parking and for the Restricted Traffic Area (the so-called ZTL), that forbid the passage to non-residents.
There is also the possibility to find road yards that could obstruct the way. Up-to-date information on the city traffic are available on http://www.comune.torino.it/trasporti.
