Palazzo ChiableseThe left side of the Piazzetta Reale is constituted by the lateral façade of this building, with entrance in piazza San Giovanni n. 2 and linked to the Palazzo Reale: of a 16th century plan, it was re-modelled and decorated by Benedetto Alfieri between 1753 and 1767. Palazzo Chiablese It belonged to the monsignor of Racconigi, and decorated with a façade painted by Rosignolo, it became residence of Maurizio of Savoy, already cardinal, and of his wife Ludovica, since 1642. Although the bombings that it underwent during the last conflict, the Rococo interiors of the palace still document the high refined taste of comfort and decoration reached in Piedmont in the 17th century. Enriched by a third apartment of neoclassical forms projected by Giuseppe Battista Piacenza, it became seat in the Napoleonic period of the governor Camillo Borghese. It was also seat of the National Museum of Cinema, closed while waiting to be moved to the Mole Antonelliana, and now it hosts the Regional administrative office for the cultural goods and landscape of Piedmont.
