Armeria Reale (Royal Armoury)

It is the one of the most important in Europe, it was opened to the public in 1837 by Carlo Alberto, who gave to colonel Vittorio Seyssel d'Aix the task to collect ad order the materials coming from the arsenals of Turin and Genoa and it grew in number with the acquisition of the 19th century.

It occupies three rooms in the noble floor, reachable through the huge staircase built by Benedetto Alfieri (1740): the Sala Rotonda, the Beaumont Gallery and the Medagliere Gallery.

The collections include prehistoric weapons, of classical and medieval age and of the 15th century, but there is a great number of weapons of the 14th century of Italian and German school, with an exceptional group of suits of armour from this last one.

For those who are interested in the topic we point out an interesting illustrated guide entitled "L'armeria reale di Torino. Guida breve" (edizioni Allemandi - prezzo 18 €)
