The historical centre of Turin is constituted by streets and squares geometrically ordered (the only exceptions are perhaps via Pietro Micca and via Po), and whose names recall to the memory historical episodes and characters: Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Via Garibaldi, Via Po, Piazza San Carlo, Piazza Castello, Piazza Carlo Felice, Via Roma, Piazza Statuto an many more. Important places, where a huge part of the history of Turin has developed, starting from the Roman and Medieval period, passing through the 16th century, where there was a flourishing of architectonic geniuses, and proceeding until the Neoclassical and Industrial Turin. Piazza Castello is the centre from which the main communication routes wind and it is certainly the ideal place from which you can start the tour of the city. Moreover, in the last few years, the city council took back the historical centre to the ancient magnificence, restructuring and making more beautiful many buildings and pedestrianizing some squares. Furthermore, there is a flourishing of cafés, wine bars and restaurants which gave to the city centre a more vital and young look. |
