Village and Medieval CastleOn the side of the river Po, it constitutes a tourist attraction of the Valentino park. It was built for the General Italian Exhibition of 1884, based on an idea by Alfredo d'Andrade, with the help of a group of artists, historians and literates. The Village and Medieval Castle The Village reproduces a series of medieval typologies, taking as a model the best known buildings in Piedmont and in Valle d'Aosta; even the activity of the artisan shops contributes in recreating the medieval atmosphere. The entrance is in the north side, passed the drawbridge, from the doors of the tower of Oglianico; on the left side there is the Pilgrim Inn, in front of it there are a fountain and the bakery. The church takes inspiration from the ones in Verzuolo and Ciriè, the road continues with the houses of Avigliana and Chieri, the courtyard of Avigliana, facing the houses of Borgofranco d'Ivrea and of Malgrà, the tower of Avigliana, the houses of Avigliana and Pinerolo. After the two houses of Mondovì there is an open space where in 1927 the fountain of Issogne was placed; it is closed by the public house of San Giorgio (1927) and the house of Ozegna, going down to the river Po. An arched slope, where there are placed some medieval war machines, leads to the Castle, with bridge that can be dismantled. The entrance reproduces the one in the Castle of Fénis; from the hall you pass in the courtyard, with the guard of the Castle of Verrès; then there is the access to the storeroom, to the kitchen and to the dining room. On the upper floor there are the baronial room, with the paint cycle of the braves and the heroines and the youth fountain of the Castle of Manta, the nuptial bedroom and the chapel.
